Celebration – Annual group show – January 26 to March 11, 2017

CELEBRATION – Annual group show

Reception on Saturday February 4, from 1 pm to 5 pm

The title of this fourth annual invitational exhibition is Celebration. And there is much to celebrate as 2017 marks Montreal’s 375th anniversary. Hundreds of special exhibits, concerts, and events have been planned for the occasion. It is also a landmark year for Beaux-arts des Amériques (bAdA). Impossible as it may seem, ten years have elapsed since our grand opening on March 28, 2007. Despite the vagaries of the economy, it has been a wonderful and intellectually rewarding experience. We are so grateful to the artists who have made this journey with us; who have rejoiced at our successes; who have overlooked the inevitable gaffes and disappointments along the way.

We wish to thank all of the artists who submitted works for this show. We acknowledge the good work of our jurors: Renée Duval, Roy Hartling, and Peter Krausz. Their mandate was to create a coherent exhibition from the large number of works that were submitted. Thanks to Jean-Philippe McGurrin who handled all aspects of the organization of the show as well as the design and production of the catalogue. Gabriel Scott-Séguin is to be commended for his help hanging the show. Special thanks to Robert Laliberté who makes sure we have good images and who keeps everyone on track. Good job everyone!

We hope you enjoy the exhibition and, above all, that you will support it by taking a work home with you. Artists need your support, especially those who have the vision to push back the boundaries of ingenuity and innovation. It is through the arts that we can develop our imaginations. Who knows? Our future may depend on the creativity we bring to difficult situations here at home and beyond our borders.
